U.S. GRANT.
WASHINGTON, _February 19, 1870_. _To the Senate of the United States:_ In reply to the resolution of the Senate of the 11th instant, requesting "any information which may have been received by the Government of the recently reported engagement of Colonel Baker with the Indians,[86] with copies of all orders which led to the same," I transmit a report from the Secretary of War, to whom the resolution was referred.
