have extant in a Collection, entituled, _England's Helicon_. He also
contributed to the Stage three Plays, _Edward_ the first, a History; _Alphonsus_, Emperour of _Germany_, a Tragedy; and _David_ and _Bathsabe_ a Tragi-Comedy; which no doubt in the time he wrote passed with good applause. * * * * * _JOHN LILLY_. _John Lilly_, a famous Poet for the State in his time, as by the Works which he left appears, being in great esteem in his time, and acted then with great applause of the Vulgar, as such things which they understood, and composed chiefly to make them merry.
