Joe stopped upon the landing at the head of the stairs, but Happy Fear went on, clumping heavily down the steps. "It's all right, Happy," said Joe. "It's better for you to go alone. Don't you worry. I'll see you through. It will be all right." "Just as YOU say, Joe," a breaking voice came back from the foot of the steps,--"just as YOU say!"
