Winter resident on the Coast; has been taken at Elk Lake, near
Victoria. Brooks reports it from Chilliwhack and Okanagan.

_Branta nigricans_ (Lawr.).

An abundant winter resident on the Coast. In April, 1894. I saw them
in great numbers off Barkley Sound migrating north.
